Born in Manhattan, Kansas, Cassandra Peterson endured a challenging childhood, including severe burn scars from a toddlerhood accident. Her family later moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where her mother ran a costume business.
She graduated from General William J. Palmer High School in 1969, having already cultivated an interest in performance and working as a go-go dancer in local clubs. Inspired by “Viva Las Vegas”, she became a showgirl in Las Vegas at age seventeen.
Notable Relationships
Cassandra Peterson married musician Mark Pierson in 1981, and he became her personal manager before their divorce in 2003. She later revealed in her 2021 memoir that she has been in a relationship with Teresa Wierson since 2002.
Peterson shares one daughter, Sadie Pierson, born in 1994, with her former husband, Mark Pierson.
