When Charlie Kirk was fatally assassinated in September 2025, his passing changed the course of his wife Erika Kirk’s life almost overnight.
She went from being known mainly as the wife of the Turning Point USA founder to becoming the organization’s CEO just days after his passing.

Since then, Erika has remained at the center of conservative politics, appearing alongside Donald Trump, JD Vance, and other prominent Republican figures while carrying on her late husband’s political legacy.
But with that visibility came something Erika did not put on her one-year anniversary checklist. Apparently, she received an endless supply of internet commentary.
Over the past year, she has faced criticism, political feuds, conspiracy theories, and plenty of social-media mockery.

Her public clashes with Candace Owens became a major talking point, while comedian Druski later turned her into the subject of a viral parody.
Even a Brooklyn drag fundraiser created an “Erika Qwerk” character based on her.
Now, as the first anniversary of Charlie’s assassination arrived, Erika once again found herself at the center of online trolling.
This time, the trigger was a very public show of support from POTUS.
During the Republican Party’s first-ever midterm convention on September 9, Trump paused his remarks to remember Charlie, calling him a “great friend” and a conservative voice who had spoken the truth.

But his tribute quickly took a sharp political turn.
Trump accused the left of making excuses for Charlie’s assassination or even cheering his passing, saying that “the mask came off” and people saw “what they were really all about.”
“We will not let them win,” Trump said before ending the tribute by saying, “in Charlie’s honor, I just want to say we love you, Charlie.”
Trump then paused his speech to turn his attention to Charlie’s widow.
“And Erica is here,” prompting the crowd to erupt into a lengthy standing ovation as Erika rose to her feet.
The applause continued for well over a minute before Trump thanked her and acknowledged everything she had endured since her husband’s passing.
He then noticed Erika in the crowd, prompting a lengthy standing ovation. Trump went on to praise her for everything she had endured since her husband’s passing and called her family “the most beautiful family.”
Well, the internet watched.

Instead of letting the moment pass, some social-media users immediately turned the applause into meme material.
One netizen wrote, “It’s so funny to watch her perform 8 different emotions because she doesn’t know which one an actual grieving widow would feel,” while another said, “She’s so unsettling… I feel anxious just looking at her face.”
A third commenter summed up the entire spectacle with three words, saying, “It’s Kirkmas Eve mass.”
The latest episode also comes months after Trump had already publicly defended Erika in a rather Trump-like fashion.
At an Easter event in April, he told her, “I think you should sue ‘em,” referring to her critics, and later encouraged her to “sue their a*s off,” while joking that Erika had to be “nicer” because he could say things she could not.
Now, one year later, Erika is still under the trolling storm as the internet never runs out of memes. Check the hilarious memes below.
