The decision not to have children is much more common than mothers-in-law seem to appreciate. A Pew Research Center survey found that around 44% of adults aged 18 to 49 who do not currently have children say they are unlikely ever to have them. Research also consistently shows that childfree people report higher day-to-day life satisfaction and lower stress than parents, particularly during the years when children are young. More free time, more financial flexibility, more energy for the relationships and pursuits that matter to them. It doesn’t sound like this couple is making such a bad choice, is it?
