We are living in a period of time that will be forever recorded in history. For the first time in human history, the entire world is forced to isolate to prevent the new coronavirus from spreading further and infecting more people. If someone had told me a year ago that the world would be like this, I would probably have laughed and thought that it was a scenario from a good fantasy movie.
One artist decided to use his digital art skills to portray the world’s current situation. Til Kolare from Leipzig, Germany created a series of classical painting recreations that show social distance in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. The characters of these famous paintings distance themselves from others and reveal our reality now: loneliness and solitude.
From the beautiful painting “American Gothic” by Grant Wood to “A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte” by Georges Seurat or even Michelangelo’s “The Creation of Adam,” the artist masterfully gives us a new look at these classical artworks.
