Just looking at his bio Colin Jost seems like the kind of guy that knew what he wanted to do more or less when he made his way through life. So far in his career he’s been doing something that seems to make him happy and he’s accomplished a great deal, so you can’t really argue with the progress he’s made. He hasn’t done a whole lot in terms of movies and expanding his number of appearances, but he’s been quite successful at being a writer and a comedian all the same. Sometimes it’s the destination that we try to reach that’s the most important, with the journey being necessary to get there but not always the part that will be remembered the most. In this case however it seems as though Colin is likely remember both equally since his path to where he is now was no less important.
Here are a few things you might not have known about Colin.
10. He was into speech and debate in high school.
No matter how easy a person might say it is to debate there’s more to it than stating that you agree or don’t agree with an opponent’s point of view. The art of debate is a rather intricate thing that requires at least some planning and enough charisma to make it worth the effort of the other side to listen and consider one’s point of view. If all you’ve to come with is a simple rebuttal then such a field might not be for you.
9. Since 2005 he’s been a writer on SNL.
Things have changed for the writers on Saturday Night Live over the years. There were moments in the past when guest hosts and even the regulars would give the writers a horrible time when it came to accepting their material or ad-libbing as much as they wanted. Nowadays however it would seem that the writers are respected far more than before.
8. He started up a relationship with Scarlett Johansson in 2017.
This is a big nod in his favor according to many people since Scarlett is still considered to be a top celebrity and someone that tends to enhance anyone’s reputation if she’s with them. That being said however the two have looked really happy with one another.
7. His brother is a writer for Impractical Jokers.
This kind of makes a person wonder if they ever bounce material off of one another, if they’re allowed, or if they simply don’t communicate when it comes to work. You have to admit that some jokes seem kind of familiar from show to show, but almost seems like it would be collusion of some sort and might even offend the producers.
6. Colin was president of the Harvard Lampoon in college.
The Harvard Lampoon has been around well over a century now and is no small deal when it comes to being placed on a resume. Obviously he had a good idea of what he wanted to and which direction he wanted to take in life since he took one of the biggest leaps forward that he could.
5. He participated on The Weakest Link, the college edition.
In some ways this was kind of a savage show since the whole idea of it is to win of course, but upon the completion of a round it was the responsibility of the team to decide just who was the weakest link and then get rid of them. You can imagine that this show might have rubbed a few people the wrong way, but oh well. It’s not the worst show to ever be on TV.
4. Colin was 22 when was hired to work the Saturday Night Live crew.
He was pretty young still when he came into the job but obviously he managed to impress enough people that they took him on and decided to take a chance on him. Years later it definitely paid off since he became a well-known writer and cast member.
3. He also acts on SNL.
It’s pretty cool to see that he transcended the role of a writer and became an actor as well, especially since he seems to have done quite well in both capacities.
2. Colin’s been seen in an Izod campaign with Aaron Rodgers.
It’s been pretty normal to see actors and athletes paired up in commercials throughout the years. Whether or not it’s for publicity or just for the heck of it is hard to tell, but it’s become something of a normal occurrence now and again.
1. He’s named Norm Macdonald as his primary influence when it comes to the Weekend Update.
If you ever watched Norm Macdonald on SNL then you can probably make the correlation. He was one of those that didn’t do much but still made people laugh.
Colin has definitely made an impact with his career.Scarlett Johansson
