As MasterChef is approaching the end of it’s 8th season, fans are wondering who is going to emerge as the winner. With 15 contestants left out of the original 40, it’s tough to say precisely who is going to emerge as the single victor, but it’s becoming clearer at least, who is the most likely to make it to the top five. Some anxious fans have developed their theories about the best ways to predict who will end up in the top positions before the finish. Based on some of the better ideas for predicting the winner, here are the chefs that we think will vie for the final prize of $250,000.00 and a cookbook deal.
Results from the last round
Mike Newton Lipan of Texas was the winner of the Mystery box round one and he presented a dish that was near perfection. He needed to bring his game up and he managed to land in the first position. He selected the seven strongest chefs in his opinion to face off against one another. Jason, Cate, Eboni, Yachecia, Necco, Jeff, and Gabriel squared off with Necco being sent home, bringing the number to 14. Jason and Gabriel were the two remaining of the trio who did the worst. Yachecia and Cate Meade were the two best of the competition.
Supporting fan theory
One fan theory premises that the most likely winner is the person that tells their story and tells it well. We know that this isn’t all that is involved with the judging, but it could be a factor when it comes to a tie breaker between the best five left standing.
Narrowing down the numbers
We believe that Yahecia Holston has delivered fairly well throughout the series and her attitude is positive. If fan theory has any basis in reality, she has a great story and her plans after the competition ends are to cook for the homeless and underprivileged. This should earn the chef a few points at least in the hearts of the judges. Her second mystery box challenge cook-off brought her into the top two position with Cate. Her dish oozed perfection. She is definitely a number one pick for the top five.
Cate Meade came in alongside of Yachecia for the top two position. Her dish was amazing and it was her talent that earned her this distinction in the challenge. We choose Cate as being number two in the top five contenders for the grand prize of $250,000.
Eboni did poorly in her presentation, but her plate consisted of perfectly prepared main and side dishes. The flavor was remarkable and she received praise for a job well done. The only exception that the judge took with her plate was that it needed to be presented in a more attractive manner. She is our choice for being the third likely to nail this competition out of the remaining fourteen.
Jeff Philbin took position with Eboni with a dish that featured a very poor presentation, but his steak was also undercooked. The flavor was amazing and he did receive accolades for this, but his score seemed to sag below that of Eboni. He was in the top three of the initial mystery box competition and did alright in the second round, but he did not nail the best chef competition the way that he should have. We see Jeff as being an amazing chef that lacks consistency and this puts him as the fourth likely to become the winner of the grand prize.
Mike Newton Lipan nailed the mystery box competition but it was a necessary victory for him to nail a little positioning. He’s an amazing chef, but his consistency has been a bit off. We place him at number five in likelihood of winning the grand prize.
