iZombie: Five Brainy Predictions for Season 3

izombie

Like any great TV finale, iZombie left us with more questions than answers. Here are my top five predictions for how those questions will be answered in Season 3.

The “new world order” will question Liv’s entire purpose. At the beginning of season 1, Liv woke from her depressed stupor with one goal: to help get justice for the deceased. But how much sense does that role make in a city that’s teeming with zombies? Almost any zombie could help the police solve murder cases by eating brains, after all. (I know Liv’s smarts make her better-than-average at helping the police, but still, her visions no longer set her apart.) Liv must re-examine her entire purpose in life as a zombie.

Dale will be back — and she’ll go after our heroes. Dale knows the cases against Major are solid. After her talk with Clive, she’s skeptical of his motives for ruining both of them. Because she’s a smart, determined woman, she’s going to dig deeper to try and find the truth. In addition, the Super Max party is likely to be covered up by the police; if she’s interested in murders involving dozens of people, she’ll certainly be interested in ones involving hundreds. Since Major, Liv, and now Clive are at the heart of this mess, she’ll close in on them.

Mr. Boss will be clued in on Team Z — and he’ll use the information to his advantage. Stacey Boss is already incredibly close to finding out the truth: he slit Blaine’s throat, yet Blaine remains alive. In addition, as the zombie population continues to grow, some of his goons will probably be zombies. When he does inevitably find out, he’ll use zombies to further taking over Seattle — I bet he’d love an army of super-strong, brain-eating drug dealers.

Major will come to terms with his zombie status — and it won’t be pretty. We know he hates being a zombie: he was livid when he was turned in the season 1 finale, and recently was willing to lose his memories with the cure. We’ve seen a few episodes of Major as a zombie in this season, but not enough to see how he’s actually coping with the transition. Will he spiral into utopium abuse like earlier this season? Will he be apathetic and depressed, like Liv was before she found her new calling at the morgue? We’ve already seen Major make terrible, dark decisions related to zombies; now that he himself is one, what will he do?

Blaine will be the victor of the love triangle. Peyton was always more attracted to Blaine than Ravi — while Ravi got a hesitant “yes” when he asked her on a date, Blaine got an enthusiastic “yes”… to more than just a date. She just couldn’t be with him because he was, well, a murderer. Now that Blaine’s an amnesiac and somewhat redeemed, she can go ahead and be with him. Poor Ravi doesn’t stand a chance — and how will he deal with the fact that his own cure is responsible?
