For the second time in two weeks, U.S. border patrol agents intercepted a significant amount of cocaine at the Anzalduas International Bridge. This seizure highlights the relentless efforts by various agencies to combat drug trafficking.
An Encounter at the Bridge
On Friday, officers from U.S. Customs and Border Protection stationed at the Anzalduas International Bridge, situated between Mission, Texas, and Reynosa, Mexico, apprehended a Ford pickup truck. This vehicle was the focus of an inspection using advanced non-intrusive technology and a trained canine unit.
The Discovery
During the inspection, officers discovered eight packages of what was believed to be cocaine. The total weight of these packages was 17.94 pounds, with an estimated street value of $239,506. The seizure led to the arrest of the driver and launched an active investigation spearheaded by Homeland Security Investigations.
The director of the Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas Port of Entry, Carlos Rodriguez, underscored the proficiency of their operations saying, Our frontline CBP officers continue to exercise resolute vigilance amid rising pre-holiday traffic and that mission dedication resulted in this significant cocaine seizure.

CBP’s ability to leverage various technologies such as non-intrusive inspection systems significantly contributes to their success in detecting narcotics. Tracing Back Previous Seizure
This incident echoes another seizure on June 12 where officers stopped a white Jeep entering from Mexico. A detailed inspection revealed 25 packages of cocaine worth around $503,200 hidden inside that vehicle.
