Trading Spaces was a very popular reality TV show that first premiered 18 years ago. The show hasn’t been on TV for quite some time, but it is one of the latest to be involved in a reboot. As a result, the new version of the show premiered just the other night. People that originally loved the show were somewhat worried, as virtually anything that’s dubbed a reality television show is basically off the rails these days. The truth is, there isn’t hardly any reality left in reality TV. In fact, modern so-called reality television shows have more drama in them than anyone could ever imagine when they sit down to write a script for a traditional drama.
That left a lot of fans wondering what things would be like. After all, the original show was largely considered to be almost perfect, even when it went off the air. Therefore, fans that were dedicated to it did not want to see a lot of changes. The last thing they wanted to see was a bunch of personal drama, in-fighting and plot lines that were so badly designed that they might as well be flashing a neon sign saying the show is entirely scripted.
Fortunately, fans were in for a treat. By and large, virtually nothing has changed about the show since it was originally aired. Instead of being the way that you typically think of reality TV in today’s world, this is a welcoming throwback to the way this genre of television used to be, back when it got its start. For anyone that is too young to remember what that time was like, suffice it to say that there was a time when reality shows were on television in order to show people what something was like, in reality. When people wanted to watch a drama, they watched one that was scripted in the traditional sense.
Over the years, the very definition of reality TV became absolutely warped. That’s why a lot of people were nervous about even tuning in to watch the premiere of the reboot. Fans that were dedicated to the original were excited on one hand, yet on the other hand, they strongly felt that it would be better not to bring the show back at all than to bring it back and treat it like virtually every other reality TV show out there today.
Fortunately, everything is virtually the same. Of course, times have changed in the last 18 years in regards to the way that certain things are handled, such as bringing in furniture, ordering things for the house, so on and so forth. It wasn’t as common back then to order something online as it is today. However, everything else feels like it really hasn’t changed. This includes the people that are involved with the show. Therefore, fans can now breathe a sigh of relief and tune in to what is likely to become their favorite show once again, week after week.
