Nicholas Hoult is hardly a new face. While we may have been seeing his fresh look and blue eyes a lot on the big screen lately, Hoult’s first big break came in 2002 when he was only 13 years old. In addition he’d been acting in TV series since 1996 at only 6 years old. You can call this guy some sort of young veteran, and his acting chops prove it too. He’s done a few different genres and has shown that he can handle romance, comedy, drama, action, and even horror. Here are Hoult’s top five movie roles, so far.
Clash of the Titans
Many might not remember Hoult in Titans, but he actually received a BAFTA Rising Star award nomination for his role as Eusebios. Clash of the Titans came out in 2010 and featured a stellar cast that only helped to highlight Hoult’s talents. Playing one of the best soldiers that accompanied Perseus, Hoult had to perform hand-to-hand combat for the role. Unfortunately, Medusa petrified his character, so he couldn’t reprise his role for the sequel.
X-Men Series
No one will ever think of X-Men’s Beast when they see Hoult, but he has actually given the character a different dimension that many fans never really saw before. Being a mutant with such normal looks in the movie, Hoult really demonstrated the struggle that existed inside Beast. He gave us a character that was truly more human than mutant, someone that many people could relate to. He also did well acting as Beast with full-on costume. He may not have been the Beast we remember from the cartoons, but he definitely made it his won.
Jack the Giant Slayer

Fans of fairy tale adaptations were glad that Hoult got the title role with Jack the Giant Slayer. His dreamy looks made him perfect for the role to begin with, and he embodied Jack in a familiar yet more empowered way. While the movie didn’t fare so well in the box office, people were still impressed with how Hoult performed. Fortunately for the actor, the movie still holds a spot in many fans’ hearts and will probably stay that way for a long time.
Mad Max: Fury Road
Who would’ve ever thought that this innocent looking kid could ever pull off a bald psychotic and terminally ill slave bent on destruction and homicidal martyrdom? Hoult’s character Nux was exactly that, and while it was initially shocking to see him in such a role, Hoult did it so well and so persuasively that we’ve completely forgotten what he looked like in real life.
About a Boy
Of course you knew we’d have his big break role here. When people say Nicholas Hoult, we immediately think of this quirky kid doing his own thing in the 2002 movie. It’s not a bad thing at all because Hoult literally made that movie. We know that Hugh Grant was in it, but he surely was not the star of the show. And while Hoult is all grown up now showing us up with amazing portrayals of grown up roles, he’ll always be that sweet boy who sang to us and made us feel better about ourselves.
