Lately it seems like a lot of people are up in arms about superheroes not being able to relate to the common human being. I would say “duh” but it seems a bit redundant at this point. But really there is a case to be made for this even if you don’t want to get so bent out of shape. Super-powered individuals might have the same concerns as regular people but they’re still in a class by themselves simply because they tend to have other concerns that are far and beyond what the average person might think about. Heroes that don’t have powers tend to be much more down to earth and can help people relate because they aren’t jacked up super beings that make them feel somehow inadequate. But really, anyone in the comics is so far above average that the point is kind of ridiculous anyway.
There are heroes that aren’t able to fly on their own or possess powers unusual to mankind, and they tend to get by just fine.
5. Hawkeye
I think the point for his further inclusion into the Avengers’ problems was made quite well in Avengers: Age of Ultron. The team was fighting an army of killer robots, and he had a bow and arrow. None of it made sense, but he still did what he had to do. Hawkeye is not a super-powered hero, but he still hangs with the best simply because he is that good.
4. Black Widow
Her whole life has been about training to become a killer, so yes she is going to be one bad woman. I guarantee she’s not the type of person you want to openly challenge just because she looks like she might be weaker than you are. Even without fancy gadgets and weapons she’s been trained as an assassin for most of her life. If you don’t know what it is they do then heaven help you if she ever wants to hold an exhibition.
3. Nick Fury
What Fury lacks in powers he makes up for in intelligence, cunning, and the resources that he seems to have available at most times. Seriously, the guy can call down an air strike out of nowhere and push a single button to summon about twenty or more SHIELD agents from thin air. At least that’s what it seems like. It’s been proven that he’s not infallible, but he almost always seems to be at least two steps ahead, and that’s on an off day.
2. The Punisher
It’s not always easy to see the Punisher as being the smartest man but he’s definitely one of the most cunning and the most violent. He’s also got a lifetime of experience on his side and the knowledge of how to operate a wide assortment of weaponry. The man is pretty smart as well and can play the long game with his opponents, but chances are he’s going to shoot first and shoot to kill.
1. Batman
It’s been shown that Batman can be beaten, but with enough planning and the right materials he can take down almost anyone. He came up with a plan to take down the entire Justice League after all, even if it wasn’t him that used it. The mere fact that he’s always planning something makes him seem a little paranoid, but he’s still one of the toughest there is, sans powers.
See? You don’t necessarily need to have super powers to be a superhero.
