Formed in the early 80s, the band Sade was named after their lead singer, Sade Adu. This London-based group has sold millions of records worldwide and has been heard many upon many times throughout the world thanks to a few tracks that have been particularly popular. Their sound is much smoother than most and it’s evident that their popularity, while still enough to allow them to continue onward with their careers, is still something that is considerably more exclusive than others. In many cases a person has to be told just who Sade is and what kind of music they perform unless they happen to have been raised around those that happen to like the group. All in all they’re a very easygoing group that don’t get too wild with their sound, but again, you really have to be into them to enjoy their music.
Here are some of their songs as presented in TV and movies.
5. The Big Bang Theory – Smooth Operator
Stuart isn’t exactly Mr. Smooth when it comes to the ladies but does try. Simply getting Denise in the house is a big step it would seem since despite his intentions he still comes off as a bit of a timid goof at certain moments despite his obvious desire. You might want to say that a lot of guys would act this way around the women they really care about and want to get with, but in this case Stuart is kind of the hopeless individual that has a great shot so long as he doesn’t say or do the wrong thing. Thankfully he’s also a gentleman which, in this day and age, still helps a guy seem more attractive to a woman.
4. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World – By Your Side
You might want to question the placement of this movie on the list but quite honestly as campy and ridiculous as the film is there is something to it that seems to grab at a person’s attention when it comes to the strange but alluring format that’s used. Scott is a nice guy, kind of, that wants Ramona and is enchanted by her to the point that he actually winds up hurting the feelings of his girlfriend at the time as well as Ramona. When he has to battle her evil exes however he starts to realize that his feelings for her are a little deeper than he believed, and that his conduct to that point no longer allows him to be defined as a nice guy.
3. A Wrinkle in Time – Flower of the Universe
Based on the beloved child’s book of the same name this film was unfortunately kind of a disappointment to a lot of fans, but then that should have been seen coming a mile off. Books that get turned into movies have a hit and miss record that’s anything but perfect. But the expectation of this was rather high since it features a great cast and the story itself is something that a lot of people can remember fondly as kids since the struggle that Meg goes through to find her father is one that has touched a lot of young hearts since the book was first published and has been a story that many people have remembered more than any other as they’ve grown up.
2. Saturday Night Live – Is It A Crime
It kind of seems that if you can make it to SNL that it helps to validate your existence as a musician. That’s not a perfect statement by any means since a couple of acts have bombed out and been simply horrible (cough, Ashlee Simpson, cough), but so long as the set is done in a professional and desired manner most musicians that visit this show tend to have a good experience. The musical act on SNL is something that a lot of people look forward to, especially when it features artists that are hot at the time or are perhaps making a comeback, or are even just making a special appearance.
1. Indecent Proposal – No Ordinary Love
People can’t be bought. Go on, say it again and try to believe it. The allure of money is that it gives instant gratification whether it’s needed for play, debt, or something equally important. But when you consider that a person might sell a single night with their spouse for a lump sum of money you have to wonder a bit about their moral center and if it’s been knocked askew. Money does strange things to people and those that don’t have it could probably attest to the dangerous way it lures them in to doing or saying things that they might not ordinarily do, but one thing a person needs to remember at all times is that money should never buy people, no matter the circumstance.
Sade has been a popular group for decades now and that hasn’t really changed.
