Director Damien Leone recently praised his makeup FX team led by Christien Tinsley, expressing his gratitude on Instagram. 
According to Leone, The scope of the film was just too big and the requirements were too great so it was time to bring in an amazing team, so I could focus on directing.

Leone has revealed significant changes in style for this sequel. Shooting in anamorphic widescreen, he aims to evoke the feel of an old-school John Carpenter movie wrapped up in Christmas horror. I want it to feel more like an old-school John Carpenter movie… It’s going to be very fresh. It’s not going to be like you’re sitting through part one or two all over again.
