Rock Ladies Perform a Link’s Awakening “Shredley”

Rock Ladies

Having already done a bit on Sophie Lloyd it’s not hard to say just how skilled she is on the guitar, but this rendition of the Legend of Zelda is something that is further proof that she’s able to take just about any piece of music and make it her own. The one thing about the Zelda theme is that besides being very easy to pick out, especially for fans, it’s also one that’s become something of a standard to perform among many artists since it’s been laid down in so many ways that it’s hard to name them all in one sitting. Heck, I’ve seen it laid down on bagpipes and if you think that’s not impressive then you need to take a listen and understand just how truly difficult it possibly is. But when you hear this and many other versions you can’t help but be impressed all the same since unless you can replicate it and call such a thing easy then the odds are that you’re bound to look a little foolish for dissing something you can’t do. Personally it’d be great to learn how to play an instrument, but the time and effort required isn’t always amenable to everyone’s life. That’s why it’s so easy to be impressed by someone else when they take the time and effort to hone a skill that might come naturally and still make it into something so unique and great that you can’t help but be amazed.

The Legend of Zelda is a game that’s been around for quite some time, obviously before some of those that revere it so much were even born. It’s been something that in the history of gaming has become sort of a common staple of many people when it comes to learning the ins and outs of the whole gaming industry, a warm-up, or perhaps something that’s seen as a building block that helps a person build up to a respectable level of gaming. In other words Zelda is a game that a lot of people can sit back and say ‘Ah yeah, I remember those days, when I was first coming up with the Legend of Zelda, good times’. It’s nothing to make fun of or be sarcastic about since back in the day this was one of the most popular games around. In fact being able to say you’ve played and even conquered the game is something to be kind of proud of since a good number of us that tried might have been driven to give up on it largely because it’s not our style of game. One might think that when a person was raised on the NES system and had a choice between Mario Bros. and Zelda they wouldn’t pick one direction or the other and would simply accept them both. This wasn’t the case obviously since there are those that do love both, but there are definitely different camps when it comes to Mario and Link. That being said though, there were plenty of people that went nuts to get the golden cartridge that bestowed a certain amount of prestige on some of the earlier gamers that were able to play this game and accomplish every goal. Mario Bros. kind of became the intro to NES after a while, and Zelda almost made a gamer elite in some ways at that time.

So really, honestly, truly, Zelda has earned its reputation and its fan base throughout the years even if, like a lot of game, it’s stumbled now and again. The fact that so many people still crop up playing the theme now and again is proof that it’s still an effective and very loved game. Some folks might not recognize this theme and think that it’s just an impressive bit of music, and that’s alright since there are plenty of people that aren’t into gaming but still enjoy a good tune now and again. The fact that Sophie Lloyd decided to create a rendition of it is kind of nice since it brings the tune back for a short time and it shows her talent at the same time. One can only hope that her career is going to keep moving forward and that sooner or later we’ll see her as one of the headlining artists out there that will be headlining venues and taking massive tours with some of the most popular artists in the business. Chances are you might even hear these kind of themes now and again just as a warm-up since it’s a nice treat for the fans and something that can display her talent in a way that a lot of people will recognize. It might seem odd to hear a video game theme on a big stage, but honestly it does feel as though it would be something people could get into.
