Bobby Flay will be back on the show
Amidst rumors that his last “Iron Chef” show happened in the summer, Bobby himself stepped forward to clarify. He had quit previously but he’s not out of the competition. Flay has competed in 61 battles and has won a total of 43 times of those over the last 17 years. He’s not hanging up his apron any time soon and loyal fans will see him on the premiere episode doing the face off with one of the newer chefs on the scene preparing foods with a Thanksgiving theme
Host and featured “Iron Chefs”
The new series will be hosted by the amazing Alton Brown who is a favorite on the network. He’ll introduce the competing chefs for each of the ten new episodes this season. Brown is excited because he gets to actually sample the cooking and he also gets to make kthe final decision about which chef is awarded the honor of becoming the winner.
For the first episode, chef Matt Kerney of Chicago, Illinois battles chef Lindsay Autry of Florida in the chairman’s challenge. The winner of this round takes on chef Bobby Flay with a secret ingredient showdown that is judged by Antonia Lofaso and John Besh. Also scheduled to appear is a new member of the Iron Chef group, Stephanie Izard, who will join featured chefs Alex Guarnaschelli, Jose Garces and Michael Symon.
Before and after specials
Just prior to the premiere of “Iron Chef Showdown,” a special segment titled “Where Are They Now” will be shown. It features Bobby Flay, Wolfgang Puck along with the next generation of chefs which include Alex Guarnashelli, Michael Symon, Joes Garces, Geoffrey Zakarian and Stephanie Izard. After the premiere of “Showdown,” a special titled “Behind the Battle” will be shown with Alton discussing the secret ingredients and cooking techniques that have brought these famous chefs to the place that they are in their careers.
We’ll see a newly remodeled kitchen
Although the kitchen stadium is brand new, it will contain everything that the master chefs need to help them in winning the cooking competition. The show is a new take on an older and very successful program so a new facility for the battle to take place in adds the perfect touch.
