Universal’s Initial Ambitious Plans
Previously, Universal had signed a monumental $400 million agreement to create three new Exorcist films under the helm of David Gordon Green, who notably directed the recent ‘Halloween’ trilogy. Unfortunately, those plans were shelved after The Exorcist: Believer‘s earnings of $137 million at the box office didn’t meet expectations.
Flanagan’s Proven Horror Credentials
Mike Flanagan’s illustrious career in horror includes notable works such as Stephen King’s adaptations Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game, and immensely popular TV series like The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and Midnight Mass.
