It’s official Michael Easton has bid farewell to General Hospital, marking the end of an era for fans of the long-running soap opera.
Final Farewell by Michael Easton
The actor’s final episode aired on June 27, 2024. In an emotional Instagram video posted a day before, Easton expressed his gratitude: I’ve always been partial to the Irish goodbye. But I thought you all deserved better, so I just wanted to let you know that I just filmed my final scenes here at General Hospital.
He continued with heartfelt words for the show’s community: I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been here. I want to thank the entire cast and crew for allowing me to share their stage these past 10 years. Most importantly, I want to thank all of you for the kindness and love you’ve shown me and my family.
A Rich History with General Hospital
Michael Easton has had a notable journey on the show. He joined GH in 2012 after One Life to Live was canceled, bringing his character John McBain along. He later switched characters multiple times, notably portraying Hamilton Finn.
Exciting Returns Teased
The departure of Easton comes amid news of returning characters. Jonathan Jackson, five-time Daytime Emmy winner, is set to return as Lucky Spencer, while Bryan Craig will reprise his role as Morgan Corinthos in an August episode. Earlier this year, fans were elated to see Steve Burton come back as Jason Morgan after a dramatic storyline left viewers uncertain of his fate.
Jackson made his debut on GH as Lucas Lorenzo ‘Lucky’ Spencer at just 11 years old in 1993. His role quickly propelled him into stardom, enabling a successful transition to films such as Tuck Everlasting.
Naturally, that threw Soap Twitter into an uproar as many GH fans immediately hoped he was actually teasing his return to the soap while others warned that he’d better not be getting their hopes up.
