Exclusive Interview with Up and Coming Actress Lexi DiBenedetto

Lexi DiBenedetto stars on Nickelodeon’s new hit series, Knight Squad. The comedy premiered on February 24 and centers around students forming an unlikely alliance to protect each other’s secrets and pursue their dreams at a magical school for knights in training. Lexi’s persistence, maturity and passion for acting at a young age naturally separated her from the pack. She grew up in front of the camera, having appearances on popular series such as Grey’s Anatomy and Modern Family. Her breakout performance, headlining the short film, Love Is All You Need? (2012), immediately went viral and has received over 10 million views on YouTube as well as wide international attention.

Born and raised in North Carolina, the LA-based teen loves the outdoors as well as bringing attention to causes which help the most vulnerable, especially animals. Passionate about organic food, she believes in the benefits of a healthy diet. She is a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

We recently had a chance to interview Lexi and here are the 10 questions we asked as well as great answers from Lexi.

1. What was it like growing up in Cape Fear? (Did you see the movie?)

I’ve definitely seen the version with Robert De niro! Cape Fear is really cool place. It is extremely rich in history, and a lot of that history has to do with tales of pirates! It was also an amazing place to grow up as an adventurous kid because of all the outdoor activities, including kayaking, paddle boarding and boating in the water way! Not to mention the beaches are stunning!

2. How did you become interested in acting?

I started off in community theater and local commercials. However, I was introduced to film and script analysis at a very young age. By the age of 5 or 6 I knew that I wanted to be an actress and bring other people’s stories to life.

3. How did your career change after your nominations for “Love is All You Need?”

Being a part of “Love is All You Need?” was extremely empowering. I fell in love with the message and felt it needed to be shared. When the film and my work in the film started to become recognized, I was very humbled. I think my career changed in the sense that I had more opportunities presented to me.

4. Tell us about your role on Nickelodeon’s Knight Squad….

I play Prudence, who is a quarter giant on her mother’s side, and has giant strength. Along with giant strength she also has a giant heart. Prudence always wants what’s best for her friends. She is very loyal and simply wants everyone to be happy. If someone has a problem she wants to fix it! I also respect the fact that Prudence loves food and never turns down a snack!

5. Who is your favorite actor/actress right now and why?

I think Alicia Vikander is extremely talented and I really look forward to seeing what she does next!

6. What’s your favorite movie of all-time and why?

Shawshank Redemption or Miss Congeniality. I know they are both very different. It just depends on what mood I’m in. Shawshank Redemption is a beautifully told story that is full of heart, suspension ,and even some comedic relief at times. I love Miss Congeniality because it never fails to make me laugh and improve my mood.

7. You’re still very young in this business. What are your goals?

I want to tell important stories with my work. Moving into film is my ultimate goal. However, at the end of the day, I really just want to do what I love for the rest of my life.

8. What advice would you give to aspiring young actors?

Work hard and be prepared. Also, never give up! Acting is something that can take a lot of time and everyone will have a different journey.

9. Who would you like to work with most in the film or TV industry and why?

There are so many people I would love to work with! Ever since I was little I’ve always wanted to work with Meryl Streep. I also love Sandra Bullock, Leonardo DiCaprio and Greta Gerwig.

10. Outside of acting, what are you most passionate about?

I’ve always had a passion for the outdoors and horseback riding.
