I’ve decided to add yet another category to this website and I’ve named it “social media.” There are simply too many things to discuss that happen on social media for me to just let them go. Plus the majority of media these days is found on social media first so there you have it. As I was checking out my Facebook feed for the 6,000th time today one of my “friends” actually posted this to her own profile. Yes, this actual blue image that says “It’s My Birthday.”
Facebook is the land of limitless alerts, messages and notifications about anything and everything in your friends lives. Do you REALLY need to put up a sign that essentially says, “I’m extremely lonely and worried no one knows it’s my birthday, let me put this giant sign up on my page and see how many “likes” it gets and messages I receive?”
Seriously, there’s NO other reason to put this up other than that. To the girl in my “friends” list, you know who you are and you should be ashamed of yourself. Unless you truly are alone in this world (this girl has a husband and child) then you have no business ever posting something like this……ever.
