The Good Wife: Will We See Alicia in the Spin-Off?

Are you still mourning the loss of Alicia Florrick and the rest of the gang from the CBS series The Good Wife? The CBS drama ended its seven season run last month and the finale received mixed reviews from fans. Shortly after the show ended, CBS announced that a spin-off series would begin airing on CBS’ All Access in Spring of 2017. The series would star Christine Baranski as Diane Lockhart and Cush Jumbo as Lucca Quinn working at the all women firm that Diane was beginning to create during the final season of The Good Wife.

The spin-off series will take place one year after the infamous slap heard around the world. That slap solidified Alicia’s future with Diane. She will not be practicing at the new firm. However, that does not mean that Alicia won’t be popping up in the new series, which will be helmed by The Good Wife co-creators Robert and Michelle King.  “We might [see Alicia]. It’s all being conceived right now,” Michelle King announced to TV Line.

King went on to say that the new series, which still has not been titled, may include other characters from the series that ran on CBS from 2009-2016. Does that mean fans can be treated to an appearance from Archie Panjabi’s Kalinda now that she won’t have to work with Julianna Margulies? It was rumored that the two actresses did not get along on set and that is why their final scene together in 2015 was filmed separately.

During the interview with TV Line Michelle King also disclosed why Diane and Lucca would be the focus of the new show. “Those were just such compelling characters. It seemed like an interesting way to go.” We could not agree more!

Fans of Robert and Michelle King’s work will not have to wait until The Good Wife spin-off airs next year to view more of their awesome work. The new drama Brain Dead will begin airing next week on CBS. Michelle King did admit that the series is very different from the happenings on The Good Wife. “You’ll see some of our obsessions like politics and humor. Just this time there [are also] bugs from outer space.”
