This October a show that has been a long time in the making and that fans have been wanting to see since the mutant craze of the [easyazon_link identifier=”B000IMKDPC” locale=”US” tag=”tvovermind00a-20″]X-Men[/easyazon_link] started will finally be coming. The Gifted showcases the story of two siblings, Andy and Lauren Strucker, who one day discover that they have strange abilities that they don’t fully understand and, in Andy’s case, cannot fully control. The emergence of these strange powers is both frightening and unfortunately condemning for their family as their father is one of the many individuals that is tasked with finding those with special abilities, mutants, and putting them away, or putting them down.
The family is forced to go on the run as, thankfully, their father is willing to do the right thing and stand by his wife and children rather than become the monster the Sentinel program is already becoming. Despite not being comprised of giant, killer robots as of yet, the Sentinel program is still tasked with finding and detaining any “dangerous” mutants that could pose a threat to society. On the run from the program the family eventually meets up with another band of wayward mutants who have learned how to hide and blend in to survive. But that’s when the real fight begins.
Recently new photos of the show have been released and we have them all below:
At the very least their father is willing to run with them, forsaking his duty in favor of his family.
It will mean a life of constantly running and hiding, but with the knowledge that such organizations as the X-Men might not exist any longer, the family must find a way to exist and keep away from law enforcement.
Polaris will eventually become a valuable but volatile ally. Whether she is the same woman from the comics is not yet known, but if she is then she will be a mutant nearly on par with Magneto.
Blink has already been revealed in a past film, and will be given the same role in the show, acting as a teleporter and vital part of the group.
Polaris is one of the last people you want to upset as her mastery over magnetism makes her a very real threat even when she isn’t angry.
Keeping their powers under lock and key when not needed is about the only way that mutants can go undetected, and even that isn’t enough sometimes.
The siblings will have a host of challenges set against them in an effort to remain free, and alive.
Eclipse is a new character, but his power set is vaguely familiar. To be honest he seems like a different version of a few different mutants.
The Sentinel division is going to be one of the nastiest and most ruthless forces to ever exist in law enforcement and it will make the lives of those that are hunted a living nightmare.
Thunderbird is an old favorite that will be returning finally. His ability to sense what is coming could prove to be invaluable to the group.
The stress of parents attempting to take care of children that could destroy and entire city block with little effort is bound to be more than anyone could handle.
The show looks exciting thus far and should be a great attempt at showing the lives of mutants that are not connected to the X-Men but are still doing their very best to survive in a world that fears and possibly hates them.
