Primarily, Logan Paul is a social media personality on YouTube and other sites. However, he has released some singles as well as appeared in some movies and TV shows as well. Currently, Logan has become embroiled in controversy because of his choice to release footage of someone who had committed suicide in a place called Aokigahara, which has resulted in a negative response from a lot of people who are upset by his insensitivity towards what is a very serious issue.
Here are five things that you may or may not have known about Logan Paul:
Rose to Prominence on Vine
Paul rose to prominence on a video hosting service called Vine. For those who don’t remember the name, Vine was a video hosting service that specialized in short-form videos, which made it well-suited for social media sites. Something that explains why it was bought out by Twitter even before it had its official launch. With that said, Vine has since become defunct, though Vine videos are still available for those who are interested in them.
Brother of Jake Paul
It is interesting to note that Paul is the brother of Jake Paul, who is a social media personality in his own right. With that said, some people might actually know Jake Paul because of Bizaardvark, which is a comedy TV show that is broadcast on the Disney Channel. However, the Disney Channel announced that Jake Paul would be leaving the TV show in July of 2017, though Jake Paul has revealed that he had actually been fired because of a segment on a local news station about a public complaint from his neighbors that he was being a public nuisance.
Lives In the Same Complex As Other Social Media Personalities
Regardless, Paul lives in the same complex as a number of other social media personalities. Something that seems to have made it that much easier for them to collaborate on the same videos.
Visited Aokigahara
Recently, Paul has come under fire because of his visit to a place called Aokigahara. For those who have never heard of that name, it is a stretch of forest that can be found close to Mount Fuji in Japan, which is infamous for being one of the most popular places for suicides in that particular country. When Paul found a corpse in Aokigahara, he decided to release a video containing footage of the corpse, which has resulted in a huge wave of anger at his less than respectful response.
Claims that He Wanted to Raise Awareness for Suicide and Suicide Prevention
Since the reaction, Paul has removed the video before issuing an apology. In it, he included a statement that he was hoping to raise awareness for suicide and suicide prevention through his actions. However, this is not borne out by the content of the video. Furthermore, it is difficult to believe that he had such intentions because a reasonable person would not have expected to achieve the supposed goals through said method, particularly since Paul actually had time to think it over because he had time to do some editing on the footage before releasing it.
