Karl Pilkington has been something of an oddball since coming into the same sphere of influence as Ricky Gervais, who he’s worked with on and off now for some time. He’s done his own bits and had a spot on Ricky’s show as well but has largely been a producer and sometimes actor. As far as being off the wall there’s no doubt that people might think he has a few screws missing and those that remain might be a little loose, but he’s interesting to listen to and try to understand. The fact that he’s got such a strange way of looking at things just makes him a more interesting individual to follow.
After all, normal and sane is boring sometimes.
5. He caused a television presenter to leave the set in tears.
When he came onto XFM as a producer he unintentionally made TV presenter Gail to leave in tears after criticizing the manner in which she did her bit. It might not be that he meant to come down on her too hard, it might have been that he didn’t know how put into words what he wanted to say or perhaps was too aggressive in how he was saying it. Of course every person takes criticism in a different manner so it’s hard to know.
4. He’s appeared on the Ricky Gervais show.
A lot of times he’s been the butt of Gervais’ jokes but he’s also been a good sport most times and had a lot of fun. His own brand of humor is more than enough to put up with Gervais and has been seen to be kind of odd at times. In fact the things he’s been known to say have at times really confused the heck out of a lot of people, though he sounds so sincere when he says them.
3. He has a very deadpan delivery with his lines.
A lot of comedians are able to do this without much trouble since it can crack a person up in a heartbeat if they know how to deliver a line without giving so much as a grin. There are times when people don’t know how to take this and might be a little intimidated by such humor, but most of the time a lot of people will wait and be ready to laugh when the moment is right.
2. He rarely smiles.
A man that who is known to be funny that rarely smiles isn’t all that odd. Some comedians go through life looking as though they’ve never smiled a day in their life. How it happens however is unknown since you would think that most people that have anything to do with comedy would be unable to halt a grin all that often. He does smile, just not that much.
1. He’s known for making very weird observations.
There area few that make little to no sense even if the wording does. Like wondering why giraffes weren’t made intelligent enough to build ladders instead of needing long necks. Or if you can’t look a knob in the face then there’s something wrong.
He’s made a living out of whatever he does though.
