Andrew Kreisberg is a well-known television writer, producer, and comic book writer who was born on April 23, 1971. He studied at Boston University College of Communication before he launched his career in television. He is best-known as the writer of ‘Supergirl’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, and ‘Arrow’. His script for a television series based on the DC Comics character ‘Booster Gold’ is also under consideration by the SyFy network. Here are five more things you might not know about Andrew Kreisberg.
1. His First Job Was Writing for Mission Hill
Kreisberg’s first job as a television writer was writing for an animated sitcom called ‘Mission Hill’. This was aired on WB between September 24, 1999, to July 16, 2000. It was then aired on Adult Swim during July and August 2002. Only 13 episodes of this were aired even though 18 were originally planned. The series was created by Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein.
2. His Sister Died from Cancer When She Was Sixteen
One of the most traumatic events in Andrew Kreisberg’s life was when his sister died at the age of just sixteen. He can remember an occasion when his sister was particularly sick and was being really mean to him. Due to her illness, he refused to retaliate. However, his father told him he should just treat her like any other bratty sister and forget about her illness. Kreisberg later used this experience as inspiration for the script for‘Haley’s Comet’. The premise of this 2005 show was a young woman who is given just months to live but makes a miraculous discovery. However, she can’t move on with her life as everyone is still treating her as though she is a frail, sick woman.
3. He is Facing Allegations of Sexual Harassment
Recently, Andrew Kreisberg has faced allegations of sexual assault. A total of 4 men and 15 women have alleged he has sexually harassed them. As a result of these allegations, he was suspended as a showrunner for ‘Supergirl’, ‘Legends of Tomorrow’, ‘Arrow’, and ‘The Flash’, on November 10, 2017. Warner Bros. TV Group is conducting an internal investigation into the claims which they are taking extremely seriously. As yet, Andrew Kreisberg has not publicly responded to the claims.
4. He Has Written Three Comic Book Series
In addition to writing for screen productions, Andrew Kreisberg has also created comic book series. The three for which he is best-known are ‘Batman Confidential’ and ‘Green Arrow and Black Canary’. Kreisberg also created the comic book ‘Helen Killer’ which Arcana Comics began publishing in 2008. The artwork in the comic is by Matthew Rice. This is about a teenage girl who is hired to protect the President of the United States because she is given a device enabling her to increase her physical abilities.
5. He Wrote Red Faction: Origins
Although he generally writes for television series, he also wrote the television film ‘Red Faction: Origins’. This television movie was based on the video game by Volition. This 2011 feature-length movie was co-written with Paul de Meo and Danny Bilson. It was produced by SyFy to coincide with the release of the video game ‘Red Faction: Armageddon’.
