Ex “Daredevil’ Showrunner Wants to Make a “Moon Knight” TV Series

The ex-showrunner for Daredevil, Steven S. DeKnight, has stated that he would be highly interested in making a Moon Knight TV series. If anyone reading this is wondering just who Moon Knight is they might not have been a comics fan and could have been laying less attention than is usual to the current talks about what people want to see. But honestly it’s not that hard to understand since Moon Knight has never really been on par with other heroes when it comes to overall popularity. He’s been more like the guy that pops into play when it’s warranted and his story has something to do with another, bigger story. Otherwise he gets ignored a lot despite the fact that he does have a fan base.

Moon Knight, aka Marc Spector, was a US Marine that became a mercenary. While on an archaeological dig with a couple of other individuals he was brought near to death and left to his fate. When worshipers of the Egyptian god Khonsu retrieved him and set him at the feet of their god however he had a vision that the god had chosen him to become the hand of vengeance that was desired. When he woke he was able to make his way back to the world and invest the money he’d made as a mercenary, amassing a fortune that allowed him to not only design and create a costume that was in some ways absolutely terrifying, but to come up with various forms of weaponry and gadgets that aided him in becoming a crime fighter. It seems really that he’s kind of like a guy that’s trying to atone for a past spent without doing much more than killing and harming people for money, and that’s about the big and tall of it.

Unfortunately Moon Knight is kind of an unstable personality as well since has two other alter egos that he uses in order to keep his identity and his activity as a crime fighter a secret. He’s highly skilled in several martial arts and is also an expert weapons master as well. But being so mentally unbalanced is kind of his downfall, since he’s more likely to argue with himself than he is to go after the bad guy sometimes. Bringing him to the small screen would be interesting though since he is a regular human hero but is the type that, like Daredevil, is someone that can really get in there and mess some stuff up. In some ways he’s kind of like Marvel’s answer to Batman, save for the fact that he makes Batman look like a shiny happy person since Moon Knight is just flat out nuts at times.

But the idea of bringing him to TV is great since it could possibly expand the MCU just a bit and introduce another character that would widen up the dynamic and create a little more conflict. Plus, with another hero comes more villains that could possibly be used to create more story arcs.
