Everything We Know about The Micronauts Movie So Far

Micronauts

So how many people even know about the Micronauts? Well, since you’ve heard mention of the Multiverse in the MCU now, the Microverse might not be too much of a stretch even as it moves in the opposite direction, going smaller and smaller into the untold dimensions where many Marvel fans might not even know about. I know a little about the Micronauts but considering that they were popular back in the 70s and didn’t make a huge jump forward after the 80s and 90s, it’s hard to believe that they’ve stuck around this long. If you don’t know much about them don’t feel too bad since they’re a less-developed idea that’s been brought back again and again as a comic, a toy line, and it’s even been mentioned that they were on line to get their own movie after a while, but now as Kevin Burwick of MovieWeb has mentioned it’s being given a big push towards the big screen.

The team is, as you might guess, comprised of those that are in the best possible shape, are alluring, and have their own power sets considering that they’re heroes, adventurers, and have to be in great physical shape at all times. They’ve even teamed up with some of the most famous heroes in the Marvel universe such as Captain Marvel and the X-Men at different points, and they’ve taken on Thanos along with their own enemies if you can believe that. So honestly, they’re not a flash in the pan team, but it’d be great to get some idea of just who they are and why they’re going to be worth watching when they finally make their way to the big screen. But who will play each role is still in question since at this point all we really know is that the movie will be coming out around 2021. Elle Collins of SyFy Wire however does have a few names that might be hopefuls for the roles that are thought to be in the process of being thought up for the movie, presumably the most important and central to the story. Thus far she’s mentioned some very impressive names that might be able to pull off a movie like this, especially since at least one of them has already been a part of the MCU.

One thing we do know as per Chris Cummins from Den of Geek! is that the movie will be getting the director of How to Train Your Dragon, Dean DeBlois. Given how well that movie did it would seem that the title is in good hands since despite the fact that this is a much different story and set in a very different genre it’s still kind of obvious that Dean knows how to operate on the set and how to make something that people will want to watch. At the very least it should be enough to spark some interest in a lot of fans since it’s something different than what we’ve seen and something that could spark a different direction in the MCU. That’s what people are after right, originality? Well the Micronauts should be able to deliver a healthy dose of it since despite coming from the Microverse and thereby not being quite as accessible to every hero at any given time, it’s very easy to see just how they might stimulate the imagination and show people that there’s more to the Marvel universe than many have come to think. The number of directions that the universe can go in seems finite, but when you look into how many universes might be stacked on top of one another in a metaphysical manner you can see how it might just keep going.

Having read at least a few issues of the Micronauts in the past I can at least tell you that while it is original it’s still going to be familiar enough in its telling that it should appeal to people with a story that follows a very familiar formula that will therefore be capable of drawing in even the biggest cynics. There are only so many story elements that can be used again and again most of the time, but taking into account that ‘they came from inner space’ as the comic covers always read, this should be enticing enough for people to realize that no matter how big or how small life seems to exist at every level and just waits to be noticed. How the Marvel execs are going to fit this into the entire MCU is kind of hard to say at the moment, since with Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, and Captain America the pattern started to make sense and finally culminated at the end of the Avengers. If Marvel is bent on doing the same thing with the next few phases then you can bet that something epic is coming once again.
