Before David Fincher took to directing feature films giving us Alien 3 in 1992 and eventually directing Fight Club which essentially “and the rest is historied” his career, he was directing music videos. And by the way he was doing a fantastic job at it. However his last featured film behind the camera was Gone Girl which was released in 2014. Since that time Fincher’s dabbled in television both as a producer as director.
He’s produced nearly all of House of Cards’ shows and has directed two episodes. But now Fincher is tackling an entirely new series called Mindhunter. Does anyone doubt this show is going to be completely awesome? Neither do I. The Netflix original just got its first trailer and if the line “Imagine what it takes to bludgeon someone to death, the lust for control, the feeling of arousal, the decision to humiliate a corpse” doesn’t get you intrigued than you probably don’t like David Fincher to begin with.
The new show stars Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany as two FBI agents who, in 1979, interview incarcerated serial killers in order to solve new cases. “We can’t like everything we do,” Groff says in the preview. “We’re talking to serial killers. You want truffles? You gotta get in the dirt with the pigs.”
