A countdown is a great way to build up the stress of a moment as well of anticipation of what’s going to happen once the numbers run out. Movies use them all the time to create suspense, shock, or whatever the moment calls for. If a bomb’s going to go off it’s always fun to see the numbers on the screen wind down and wait for the movie’s hero to save the day. In other moments we might witness the counting down of a year that’s moving to the next year and we’re wondering what will happen when the clock strikes 12.
But what if we took scenes in movies where numbers are mentioned and use that as a timer itself? Video creator ThorC1138’s rules for constructing the supercut were to use 100 unique films and not use any years as numbers. The result is 100 seconds and 100 memorable moments from film.
