The “Punisher” character Microchip of the Marvel Comics franchise is the creation of a good sized crew or artists and other professionals. David Linus Lieberman, also known as Microchip and to his associates as Micro, was the friend of the Punisher for several years before he turned into a bitter villain. His role has gone in a completely different direction and he’s among the favorites in the popular comic. For fans who think he’s a cool character, here are five things that you probably didn’t know about him.
1. There were secrets about Micro’s family
There was a lot about his family that micro didn’t know. Prior to Micro’s birth, his father was forced to assist with the creation of weapons, against his will. This is news that surfaced later on in the story and not all fans were aware of this fact. In addition to this, Micro had a son whose name was Louis Frohike. The child was illegitimate, but none-the-less, his son. Louis died while trying to help Frank Castle out in an exchange of hostages.
2. Micro made an effort to help the Punisher
Deep within the Punisher, Frank Castle the man still existed. Microchip turned down the offer to run and escape a potentially fatal battle, but he refuses. He stays behind in an attempt to help the Punisher find his humanity once again. His efforts didn’t pay off because he ended up taking a shotgun blast to the head at point blank range.
3. Punisher told Microchip to “get a life”
Punisher was on a mission to kill all of the villains and heroes in the world. This was the evil plan that Kesselring had put him up to. Microchips was along for the ride and as the two are going after Daredevil, the last of their intended targets, Punisher has a few words for Micro. He mentions that it’s the last kill and that he needs to gain distance. He tells him that if he had any “sense,” he’d use his brains for something other than what he’s been doing, and that he would go out and do “something worth a damn.”
4. Microchp first appeared in 1987
Younger fans may not be aware that David Linus Lieberman fist made his appearance in the Marvel Comics “The Punisher,” Vol. 2, #4 in November of that year. In July of 1993, the publication “The Punisher: The Origin of Microchip # 1” was released, giving a decent overview of the character.
5. He checked into a “fat camp”
Micro has historically held the belief that he had a weight problem. It didn’t set well with the self-image that he wanted to have, so he attempted to do something about it. He checked in to a “fat camp” to lose a few pounds and get rid of the extra pounds. Instead, he ran into some real problems as he discovers that the administrators of the program are speed dealers. While speed can help you to shed a lot of fat in record time, it’s not exactly the best approach to the problem.
