Days of Our Lives fans are all about the upcoming Daytime Emmy awards, and everyone wants to know what everyone else is up to, what is going on, and how things are going to shake out. Of course, we don’t know how things will shake out in the grand scheme of things, but we do know that there are a few things you should know about the daytime awards show and what it has in store for the people who pretend to live in Salem to earn a living. Of course, we have a few things you already know, a few that you might not already know, and you might even be surprised to learn that this show has a special place at the Emmy’s this year. Want to learn more? Here you go.
The Most Nominations
Of all the four daytime soaps, the people of Days of Our Lives get to take home the honor of having the most nominations. There are more categories in which a show can be nominated than we can even imagine counting, but these are people who get to see things unfold in their own manner by winning the most of all the shows — nominations, that is. They lead the pack with 27 nominations in various categories, but fans want to know if they will end up taking home as many as they were nominated for. Or, will another show with fewer nominations take home the big win with more wins than this one? We can’t decide.
Many Nominees are Gone
What makes this year even more exciting for the show is that many of the people who were nominated in various categories are no longer with the show. They are gone, and they won’t be back. Well, they won’t be back in the foreseeable future, at least. For example, we know the very lovely Marci Miller was nominated for her role as Abigail even though she left months ago and another actress took over the role and ended the role on her own note. However, she was so good while she was there that she was nominated for her role as a crazy kind of woman with more than one personality. Tyler Christopher, who recently left the show, is also nominated for his role as Stefan. And that’s exciting for him, but it is another role that was taken over by another actor when he chose to leave. Billy Flynn, who played Chad but left with Abigail, was also nominated. His role was not taken over by anyone else, and we have a feeling that his one of those who will be back before much longer.
Additionally, one of the men who was nominated for a supporting actor role just left the show, and he wasn’t even on the show all year. He’s been around for a while, but not long enough to make him a major player, but he still did such a good job that he was recognized for his effort. That man is Greg Rikaart, who played the horrible Leo in more ways than one. He’s a man who doesn’t have much to offer in terms of being a nice person, and he just left. But, he was so good at being bad they just had to give him a nomination — and we would not be surprised if he won that one, too.
Lead Actresses Were Not Recognized As Much As Supporting
Of all the women who are on this show on a regular basis, it was the one woman who was relatively new to the show — a year or so into the role as Abigail after the original actress left the role — who also then retired from her role and left before the year was over who got the only nomination for a female leading role. It was amazing to us to see that, but the women who come onto the show in a supporting actress role were heavily recognized — more so than any other show. In fact, of the six women nominated for a supporting role in a female role, three of them were from this show. Kassie DePaiva, Martha Madison, and Linsey Godfrey all earned nominations.
