Young and the Restless fans have had an emotional 2018 with their favorite characters on their favorite show. We just know this based on the sheer number of things that went down this year. For one, we were all saddened and shocked and upset when Ashley said goodbye to her friends and family for good when Eileen Davidson decided it was time to retire after so many decades. We get it, but we do not have to like this at all. We are just sitting here all kinds of emotional about it, and we do want to put fort the best effort to understand just why this all went down. We get that there was a lot happening this year, but that was the biggest plot twist. Of course, there were more in 2018 that had us in shock. Here are some of our favorites.
The Abbott Storyline
Is he or isn’t he? What did we all ask ourselves so many times this year we cannot even handle it? We asked if this was a real situation or if it was a fake situation. We know that things do not always work out for everyone in need, but we also know that there is a good chance we can have something in our favor such as Jack Abbott who thought he was not an Abbott after all. His year was whirlwind of what is actually happening to me? But he pushed through. He thought he was not an Abbott after his delusional mother showed up and told him he is not. Then he thought he was this person, then that person, and he spent the year on a quest to figure out who his real father is — which is just code for “How many men did my married mother sleep with in that month of conception?” But, it turns out he is an Abbott. What really did make us feel shocked, however, was the fact that his sister knew the truth the entire time, and she chose to hide this from him.
Nick and Sharon’s Wedding
So many things about this were shocking to us. The fact that they decided to get married again, of course, was shocking. But the fact that they decided not to get married when she felt that the best time to confront him about his one-night stand with Phyllis was on their wedding day and in front of their guests, including the newly engaged Phyllis and Billy. It did not go well at all, but we get that. And it was only made more shocking when Nick basically said “oh well” and moved on with Phyllis afterward like they didn’t have much of a problem with their decision. It was weird.
Hilary/Lily and All That
First and foremost, we did not see this coming. Hilary and Devon, the baby, the accident, the rest of it. We simply did not see that coming. We know that things are always working out in the most mysterious ways, but we did not see this happening at all. We are just sitting here mind our own business when Lily decides to get revenge on Hilary for what she did to her — which was ruin her family, but the way. And then she was in the accident. They baby died. The couple had a bedside wedding before Hilary died. Devon can never forgive his sister, and he sent her to prison. He did have a change of heart at the very last moment, but he did send her to prison for a year. She’s without her kids and her husband for a year, and he’s realized that he is punishing an entire family, which is not what his wife would have wanted. This family has been through it all this year, and it’s only going to get rose from here on out. She has a year to go in prison, Cane is working to make amends with people in his life so he can work it all out when she’s out, and Devon is losing it. It’s ben emotional to say the least, but we suspect that there might be something looking up for them in the new year.
