Five Great Movie Scenes Taking Place at a Deli

Deli scenes in movies are usually afforded a lot of something, be it comedy, drama, or something that’s a wonderful blend of both. It can be gross or it can be so over the top that you have to hide your eyes for whatever reason, but it’s usually something you don’t soon forget. Some of the best scenes in movies have taken place in diners for a number of reasons and one among them is that it’s a perfect place where people meet in order to talk, spend time with one another, and just be around other human beings. It’s one of the great gathering places of society that might not be spoken of in high terms but is still frequented enough that it’s easily described as a hub that people tend to visit from time to time.

The comedy bits are usually some of the best though.

5. Road Trip

So this is one of those funny/gross moments when you tend to realize that eating out a diner is not always the best option, particularly if you’re a picky eater. Most diners likely put a lot of powdered sugar on their french toast if they put it on there at all, but thankfully the great thing about this dish is that it can be scraped off. That’s usually the preferred method for some folks since sending food back is a good way to get it messed with depending on the type of place they decide to eat at.

4. Goodfellas

Sometimes diners are great meeting places as it was mentioned above. In this movie, which is based on real events, Jimmy was as paranoid as he was dangerous and always needed to sit by a window so that he could monitor who came in and who went out. Anyone working for this guy was always under the gun whether they knew it or not, and when things started going south he was the first guy that started looking at who could be disposed of and who he could trust.

3. Blues Brothers

Four fried chickens, and a Coke. That would be a strange way to let someone know you were in their establishment, but at least it got the word across. To be honest though it would be hard to mistake the Blues Brothers for anyone else since they wore just one outfit and were pretty easy to distinguish from a crowd. This scene went into another musical number however that was just one of many within the movie that was highly memorable.

2. Pulp Fiction

Jules is not a man to be messed with when he’s in a good mood, and he’s the last person you should be messing with when he’s had an inordinately bad day. The two hapless robbers found this out quickly when Jules turned the tables on them and let them both know that had it been any other day they’d be deader than fried chicken. He says it so much cooler but hey, that’s Samuel Jackson, he’s just the man.

1. When Harry Met Sally

Have you ever been to a diner where someone made this kind of spectacle? No? Maybe you should get out more then. This kind of thing isn’t common but it’s certainly enough to turn heads when it happens.

Diner’s are one of the last bastions of humanity’s true and insistent need to gather together.
