Dacre Montgomery is one of the many up and coming actors that have been filing into Hollywood in an attempt to make their way in the industry and cement a legacy that might keep them there for some time to come. So far he’s proven to be worth the effort and has shown that he has at least a decent range when it comes to his various characters. While he has a few kinks to work out in his timing here and there he’s still one of the more skilled of the bunch that are currently on the rise. He’s shown that he can be the tough guy and that he has a sensitive side as well. It’ll be interesting to see how far he can go.
Until then here’s a few things you might not have known about him.
5. He has a lot of respect for actors Hugh Jackman and Heath Ledger.
It’s hard not to respect two of the greatest actors that have come along in the past two decades. Both of them blazed a trail long and wide through Hollywood, taking on some of the best and most iconic roles that might have ever been created. Ledger’s career might have continued to rise if not for his passing, while Jackman’s seems to be up in the air at the moment after retiring the character of Wolverine.
4. It only took a few weeks after graduating after graduation from acting classes to get his first few parts.
Despite the grueling process to get into the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Dacre managed to attend the 3-year program and graduated in 2015 on his 21st birthday. It only took a matter of weeks before he received word that he’d been selected for no less than three projects, one of which was the Power Ranger movie that met with mixed reviews by many critics.
3. He began performing at age nine.
Much of this was on the stage since his parents worked in the film industry and saw his interest in acting as a positive thing. They helped him along and by age 10 he had his first role as an extra in a film, while by the time he was 12 he was taking comprehensive acting lessons. It almost seems like this guy was just meant to be an actor from day one.
2. He played the red ranger in the new Power Rangers.
He plays Jason, the leader and the guy that’s supposed to be able to bring them all together. A great deal was changed about the Power Rangers, such as their appearance, their origins, and even their attitudes, but a lot of it remained the same. And of course to keep up with the current technology a lot of stuff had to be CGI, but the actors managed to pull off their parts anyway.
1. He’s Australian.
You wouldn’t know it from the American accent he seems able to use so well, but he was born in Perth, Western Australia. He didn’t become known in America until his first American film role which was titled Better Watch Out.
Dacre is definitely on a high note right now in his career.
