Getting Schwifty With This Rick and Morty Guitar Remix

Getting Schwifty With This Rick and Morty Guitar Remix

I’m guessing you need to watch the show to really know what “getting schwifty” means. The track is alluring enough in that it’s simple and not too hard to follow. But really, in terms of the show and what it really means it would leave a lot of people utterly and hopelessly confused. It’s a nice beat to groove to for as long as it lasts but, ah, well, I’m going to go ahead and just say, Morty and Rick is a very weird show. Not only is the plot just out in the Ozarks but it’s premise and continual shifts through space and time are enough to make a person’s head spin.

It must have a fan base for a reason, but in some ways it makes me pine for the simpler days of Looney Tunes, Thundercats, and even Voltron and the SilverHawks.

Two minutes of this show is enough to give you a brain cramp.

It starts out interesting and definitely captures the attention, but the twists and turns through time and the use of so many different Morty’s and Rick’s makes things so confusing and confuddled that keeping up seems to be an exercise in futility. Maybe I’m showing my age and have lost touch with the more adult cartoon set, but I can also remember a time when shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy were considered too much for viewers. At the very least they were far more explanatory about their plots and premises and didn’t feature multiples of the same character that led a number of different plots that could tie the series up in knots. Maybe I’m over-thinking it, but getting schwifty with a show that’s this crazy seems about as easy as figuring out why cats go crazy sometimes. You might get it eventually, but then something will happen and you’ll lose it again.

What the heck is schwifty?

Is it a cross between sweet and shifty? That seems to be all that makes sense really. Does it somehow allude to Rick’s character? He seems to be sweet at times but extremely shifty at others. So really, does this word describe Rick? It would make a lot of sense in a show that doesn’t seem to pride itself on making much of anything but utter and complete confusion. Just watching a few minutes though seems to make it quite clear that he’s not the first person you want to trust.

Or is it Morty that the word describes? As we’ve seen from clips the evil Morty is just as bad as Rick, if not worse. So really, does this word describe either of them or is it just something interesting to say?

To be honest this show is so nuts that it would take a truly diehard fan to watch it, and there seem to be plenty of those out there that absolutely love it. Kudos to all you fans that love the show, but this guy is going to keep his distance.
