Why You Need to Watch The First 48: Blood Money

It’s impossible to deny. A&E’s The First 48 is addictive. Seriously, it is one of those shows that you run across while flipping channels and before you know it you have been sitting there for hours, watching detectives in Broward County, FL, Cleveland, OH, Memphis, TN, and more work through horrific scenes, track down witnesses, find a likely suspect (often with the help of a few snitches helpful people from the neighborhood who may or may not need a bit of motivation to talk), and bring him or her in.

Due to The First 48’s popularity, it’s only natural that A&E would create a few spinoffs, including After the First 48 (2008-2015) and The First 48: Missing Persons (2011-2013). Now, the network has introduced The First 48: Blood Money. If you have yet to tune into the new series that debuted June 7, 2017, here’s why you need to watch The First 48: Blood Money.

It’s part of The First 48 family.

The first episode of The First 48 debuted in 2004 and has remained one of the network’s highest rated shows ever since. In fact, an astounding 326 episodes have aired and it is the highest rated non-fiction justice series on cable. It’s just natural to assume that any spinoff would be just as entertaining and informative as the original. The First 48: Blood Money follows this trend.

It gives insight into what people will do for money.

Unfortunately, in today’s world, people will do just about anything to get their hands on a little bit of money. Essentially, this is the premise behind The First 48: Blood Money, which focuses on deaths resulting from someone else’s greed. For example, the first episode hit the dangerous streets of Miami to tell the story of an innocent bystander who tried to intervene and stop a robbery. He was fatally wounded. How much money did he lose his life for and were detectives able to catch the murderer? You will have to check out the show to learn the answers.

It will show you just how difficult being a detective really is.

When it comes to homicide, the chances of solving a case are cut in half if there isn’t a lead within the first 48 hours. This puts tons of pressure on law enforcement officers to find something that will lead them in the right direction. It’s not easy. It requires work…combing the scene for evidence, looking for witnesses, trying to get someone to talk, etc. and of course, it takes them to dangerous and filthy places most of us only want to see from our TV screen in the safety of our own home. You’ll walk away from The First 48: Blood Money with a whole new respect for the police.

You know you love or at least intrigued by true crime shows.

If you’ve started reading this article, you are mostly a fan of true crime shows, whether you want to admit it or not. Sure, there are plenty of programs to choose from already, but what’s one more to add to your weekly lineup?
