There’s a very small part of me that deep down thinks that there’s a very “Lance Armstrong” type of thing going on with Tom Brady. Again, it’s a very small part of me but it’s there. I say this because it’s nearly impossible not to like this guy. I think the only thing that ever bothered me about him was his “Make America Great Again” hat that was in his locker. Other than that how does anyone not like Tom Brady? Hell I’m a Giants fan and I love the guy.
He says everything right. He does everything right. He puts it all on the field and he far and away outworks everyone on the planet. Still though, I wait for the fateful day where we find out that Brady is in fact an alien and was never really a person. Either that or he was genetically engineered by the government in a top secret project that was never uncovered. But until Brady is exposed for who and what he really may be, we’ll have to take him for his word. And his word recently was yet another humble quote about whether or not he thinks he’s the greatest of all-time. Here’s what he told ESPN’s Ian O’Connor when asked the question:
“I don’t agree with that and I’ll tell you why. I know myself as a player. I’m really a product of what I’ve been around, who I was coached by, what I played against, in the era I played in. I really believe if a lot of people were in my shoes they could accomplish the same kinds of things. So I’ve been very fortunate.”
Brady’s certainly got a point in the sense that the Patriots are a well oiled machine and he’s got Belichick. But come on man. It stops right there. You gotta give about at least 60-80% of the credit to Brady. 20-40% to other factors like coaching, supporting players, luck, etc etc.
