Stephen Colbert Throws Pizza Parties Every Week the Late Show Beats Fallon in the Ratings

I literally wrote an article about how nice a guy Jimmy Fallon is this morning.  But no matter how nice a guy he is, Fallon’s losing the late night ratings war.  I’ve already discussed this at length and I used to think that neither of these guys really cared.   I mean they’re both millionaires.  They both have huge audiences.   But apparently during this history run of ratings wins, Stephen Colbert must care a little bit because each week The Late Show outranks The Tonight Show in ratings, Stephen Colbert throws the staff a pizza party.

Throughout the offices of The Late Show, staff members could be heard saying, “Pizza! Pizza!” – celebrating a reward that comes on Tuesdays when they beat The Tonight Show in the ratings. (Via)

This time last year, Colbert was “losing by more than a million viewers” to Fallon, according to the New York Times, and although The Tonight Show is still a bigger hit in the coveted 18-to-49 demographic, The Late Show is now on top in total viewers.

This Pizza party news is only going to add fuel to the fire.  I feel like the media (even me right here) is trying to make these guys enemies despite the fact that there’s enough audience out there for everyone.  Colbert should stick to his politics and leave Fallon alone.  He’s great with his guests and shouldn’t have to morph just to catch up in the ratings.   That’s just my quick take on it.
