Homer Simpson has been a staple on television for almost 30 years. The Simpsons is an iconic show for many reasons, most notably because of the beer drinking, Bart strangling father we watch every Sunday night. Over the course of 28 seasons, Homer has held more jobs than most people will ever have in a lifetime – and he has done it without aging a single year! Here is a look back at Homer’s five most memorable jobs on The Simpsons.

Astronaut – Season 5

Homer and Barney compete for a spot to join NASA and venture off into space in a season five episode of The Simpsons. After an intense testing process, Barney is crowned the victor. When celebrating with non-alcoholic champagne, Barney goes off the deep end and Homer is able to fill his spot. Of course, things get pretty dicey in space when Homer opens up a bag of potato chips and unleashes a ton of ants into the navigation system. Homer ends up saving the day with a carbon rod, which receives all the credit from the media.

Voice Over Artist – Season 8

One of the shows that Bart and Lisa love to watch on The Simpsons is the Krusty the Clown Show. That series features the Itchy and Scratchy Show. After several years of the same concept, the children begin to grow tired of the same mouse killing cat concept. The writers of the show introduce a new character – a dog named Poochie. Homer auditions for the role and wins the part. His new job is short-lived when the writers kill his character off after it is revealed that everyone hates the character.

Snow Plow Guy – Season 4

Though it does not happen very often on The Simpsons, it does occasionally snow in Springfield. Snow played a key part in Homer’s job plowing driveways for his neighbors. Things are going great for Mr. Plow until Barney decides to start his own snow plow business, which in turn leaves Homer without a job. To get back at Barney, Homer sends him to plow a driveway on Widow’s Peak. Barney becomes trapped so Homer comes to his rescue. The two decide to go into business together. In the end, God creates a heatwave and both men are put out of business.

Duffman – Season 26

Duff Beer is Homer’s favorite drink on The Simpsons and Duffman has been one of his icons. Lucky for Homer, he was able to become Duffman after the original undergoes surgery. Homer participates in a reality show hosted by Cat Deely where he competes in various competitions to win the role. Homer places second, but ends up winning by default after it is discovered the winning contestant has a tattoo of Duff’s competitor. The one downfall of this new job is that Homer must remain sober!

Mascot – Season 2

The Simpsons was still fairly new when Homer took the job of being the Springfield Isotopes mascot. The episode begins with the Simpson family at an Isotopes game anticipating another loss. Homer tries to liven up the crowd and as a result of his dancing is offered the job as the team’s official mascot. Homer is quickly promoted to the big league team in Capitol City. He performs for the crowd, who boo him off the field.
