Stephen Colbert Responds to Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton’s Second Debate From His Home

Stephen Colbert

Although The Late Show was off last night, due to the Columbus Day holiday, that didn’t stop Stephen Colbert from sharing his thoughts on Sunday night’s presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. Colbert recorded a video from the study in his home, calling it The Late Show With Stephen Colbert: Home Edition, and he even brought in a special guest to help him: his own cat.

Of course, that cat came into play when Colbert talked about the comments that Donald Trump made about women with Billy Bush in the Access Hollywood video that was released this past Friday. During Sunday’s debate, Trump kept calling the remarks he made “locker room talk,” even though the words he used weren’t just crude and crass, but they described him sexually assaulting women by grabbing their genitals.

“By the way, I don’t think that’s what Donald Trump’s advisers meant when they told him to reach out to women,” Colbert joked. “It was a really disturbing weekend, especially for parents who had to sit down and explain to their kids who Billy Bush was.”

However, Trump’s disgusting comments weren’t the sole focus of Colbert’s video. He also touched upon two awkward moments between both candidates, when he and Hillary Clinton didn’t shake hands to open the debate and also when they were forced to say one thing that they liked about each other (Clinton, of course, said she respects Trump’s kids).

Additionally, Colbert singled out one special voter that asked a question during the debate on Sunday night: Ken Bone. Bone and his Mr. Rogers-like clothing have taken the internet by storm since Sunday’s debate (Bone was even a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night), and to celebrate him being the night’s true hero, Colbert wrote a special song about him.
