New Ghostbusters Cast Poke Fun At Their Haters, Are Joined By Original Cast on Jimmy Kimmel Live

While you may have seen tons of posts yesterday about how it was National Best Friends’ Day, it was also another fun, significant day for movie fans: Ghostbusters Day. In honor of the original Ghostbusters film, which came out 32 year ago yesterday, and the upcoming reboot, which hits theaters next month, Jimmy Kimmel had the new Ghostbusters cast on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to talk about the film and all the buzz (and controversy) surrounding it.

While Kimmel spent a good portion of his time with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon asking them fun questions and cracking jokes, he also brought up the more serious topic of the sexist individuals who have been against an all-female Ghostbusters reboot since the beginning. These aren’t people who haven’t enjoyed the couple of trailers that have been released for the film; these are male fans of the original movie that have hated the idea of a rebooted Ghostbusters since the very beginning because it would “ruin their childhood.” Of course, these haters don’t really bother the new cast all that much.

“What they don’t say when they’re typing is that one minute after they type that, their mom’s like ‘Get upstairs and take out the garbage,'” McCarthy said. “‘You’re 45 years old.'”

In addition to promoting their own movie, the new Ghostbusters cast was also treated to a surprise visit from the original cast. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts all showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the exchanges between the original cast and the new one were quite sweet.
