Even though Chris Hemsworth will not be appearing in Captain America: Civil War as Thor, he still stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night during Marvel Week to promote a different sequel that he actually is a part of. The film, of course, is The Huntsman: Winter’s War, which also stars Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt, and Jessica Chastain, and while all four of them appear to do some crazy, action-packed stunts during the movie, it was off-set where Hemsworth had his most dangerous experience.
When Jimmy Kimmel asked the Thor star if he takes many trips with his family, since he’s traveling so much for work already, Hemsworth admitted that their home in Australia is what mainly feels like a vacation to them, since they’re all there together so infrequently. However, he also told Kimmel about his most recent trip with his wife, Elsa Pataky, to the Himalayas and how it almost ended up with him dying.
So what exactly happened to Hemsworth? He got altitude depression as he and his wife continued going higher and higher, and at 4,000 feet, they realized that something was truly wrong.
“Apparently, the oxygen in my lungs, well, the next stage is oxygen in my brain,” Hemsworth told Kimmel. “And then goodnight. We wouldn’t be sitting here.”
“You need a new travel agent is what you need,” Kimmel joked.
