Chrissy Metz has been honest about her health journey over the years, sharing both the ups and downs with her fans.
The This Is Us actress recently opened up about the changes she has noticed after losing 100 pounds and later trying a GLP-1 medication.
Metz spoke candidly about why she took that step and how the experience has affected her daily life.
She also shared some personal details about her relationship with food and the struggles she faced before finding an approach that worked for her.

The 45-year-old actress attended the premiere of Nocturne in a green velvet gown on October 20, where she spoke to Entertainment Tonight about her health journey.
Metz, who is currently making her Broadway debut in & Juliet, said the medication has helped her stay active during the demanding show schedule.
“I think, honestly, being able to run around a stage eight shows a week was like really, really amazing,” she said.
Chrissy also shared that it had “really minimized” her inflammation.

“I’m perimenopausal, I got knee issues, there’s things going on,” she explained.
Another change has been quieter but just as important to her. Chrissy said she no longer spends as much time thinking about food.
“Just the mental capacity to have other things to think about than obsessing about the food noise, that’s been super, super helpful. It’s been great.”
Metz had already lost 100 pounds using different weight loss approaches before starting GLP-1

Metz’s weight loss journey did not begin with GLP-1. In April 2025, she revealed that she had lost 100 pounds through strength training.
At the time, she was asked whether she would consider taking O*empic or undergoing weight loss surgery. Chrissy said she was hesitant about both but also made it clear that everyone should be free to make their own choices.
“I think it’s important to, like, destigmatize anything,” she told Daily Mail. “But I also think it’s people’s personal decision to decide what it is that they want to do for their body.”
“I think ultimately, at the end of the day, we all just want to feel good and feel good about ourselves,” she added.
Later that year, however, Chrissy decided to try a GLP-1 after other approaches had not worked for her.

When she went public with her GLP-1 journey in August 2026, Metz admitted that she had been skeptical about weight loss medication.
She told People that she had tried “so many modalities,” including diets and therapy, but had struggled to find something that worked for her.
“It’s so nice not to be obsessing about what I’m going to have every minute, even as I’m still consuming the meal,” she said.
Chrissy also reflected on her complicated relationship with food.
“I just vilified food for so long because I was taught that it was bad, and you shouldn’t eat this or that.”
She did not reveal which medication she is taking or when she started using it.
Despite starting GLP-1, the actress continues to get stronger by incorporating strength training

Chrissy has continued strength training alongside her health journey. In August, she even gave fans a lighthearted update while showing off her bicep on Instagram.
“Look at him,” she joked.
“You know, I love all my blips and blops and my flips and flops, but she’s making progress on the strength training journey.”

She then added, “She’s making progress. We like progress. That’s my progress report.”
Chrissy has also brushed off criticism about her decision to use a GLP-1. She said her health choices are personal and that outsiders do not know what is happening in her life or her family.
“I’m just a regular old girl who is trying her best,” she said.
“Is this before and before,” wrote one netizen
