I’m a professional photographer/digital artist based in Bensheim/Germany. Once a year I go on a boys-only-phototour with two awesome friends. This years destination was the Lofoten area in northern Norway. We went there in winter to capture the beautiful aurora borealis.
The Lofoten islands are mainly steep mountains close to water. In the winter time often covered by drifting snow. The snow normally doesn’t stay for long, because of midatlantic drift the Lofoten weather is quite mild despite of being located so far north.
Sadly I had to leave early without seeing at least a glimpse of tthe northern lights because I had urgent business to take care of at home.
The lucky bastards I call my friends could stay a few days longer and got the full glory of the night sky fully ablaze with neon green light.
Rats.
At home I decided I would show a different view of this great region of Norway. As a kind of social-media-standard the landscape is shown in beautiful saturated colors. But I decided to show the gloomy epicness of this northern landscape as I did experience it.
