10 Things You Didn’t Know about “Lost Gold”

The Travel Channel is certainly starting to become a contender, or is trying at least, by rolling out one show after another such as Legend Hunter and now Lost Gold. The show focuses upon two brothers that are out to find the missing treasures that have been recorded throughout history but apparently never found, thinking to use methods and techniques that might help them to discover the truth that no one else as has found. Josh and Jesse Feldman are determined to look through the eyes of those that came so long before an walk in their footsteps as they search for the missing riches that will prove their theories correct. The show is for entertainment but there are bound to be a lot of people holding their breath in order to see if the brothers actually do come through and find something truly valuable.

Here are a few things you might not have known about the show.

10. Every hunt they go on has an actual history to it that’s based on fact.

It’d be folly to go on a hunt that was largely a legend and not rooted in some kind of fact as the idea that one might search for legendary gold that has no basis in the real world would be kind of silly. This show is going after the actual riches that were said to be lost years ago by various bandits and others that met with misfortune or were trying to hide their loot.

9. The show still needs to get permission to allow the brothers go digging.

Unless you’re digging on your own land you can’t expect people to say ‘okay’ and allow you to simply start digging and possibly cause a great deal of property damage looking for treasure. Permission still has to be granted at times in order to go on a legitimate treasure hunt.

8. If anything is found it typically needs to be split with whatever state it’s found in.

As it’s been seen in other shows laws are in place that state that anything found on state grounds does need to be split with that state. There’s no telling what laws might be in place as far as sharing a cut with anyone else, but it would seem as though a treasure hunter might actually bring a landowner in for a cut just to be polite if they found anything.

7. The bulk of the work that goes into this show is done off camera.

You’ll see the action and the end result more often on camera as it’s flashes and exciting moments that capture the attention of the audience, but a lot of what goes on to find these treasures happens when the camera is off.

6. The safety and security of the brothers is the first concern.

It’s not just for the sake of the show keeping its stars in good shape, it’s also a huge liability issue since some of the places they go to aren’t entirely safe at times and every instance needs to be planned for since things do tend to happen sometimes.

5. There’s a lot of science that goes into treasure hunting.

It’s much more than just taking up a shovel and an old map and finding the spot marked by an X after all. The brothers have to pore over old maps, figure out how the lay of the land has changed over the years, and even go and talk to those that might know something about the area and the treasure.

4. Some people might find it hard to believe that such treasures are still there to be found.

After all these years and all the treasure hunters that have been around the US attempting to find this or that it’s hard to think that there’s anything left buried in the deserts or forests to be had. But considering that a lot of folks didn’t have reliable maps it’s easy enough to think that there are still treasures waiting out there to be found.

3. Not every treasure is going to be gold.

There’s more loot that counts as treasure than just gold coins, bars, and anything else. What the brothers find could be interesting since there are a lot of thing that have been stolen throughout the years that could be waiting to be discovered.

2. The show is filmed in advance.

This is kind of a gimme since without filming in advance everything would be live and on scene and unfortunately might be kind of boring since there’s a lot of work that goes into a show like this without a lot of instant gratification.

1. There is a possibility that some of what they’re looking for is more than just lost.

Just playing devil’s advocate, there’s nothing to say that they won’t come upon a treasure that’s fallen down a sinkhole, or been swallowed up in cave-in or other natural phenomenon that makes it irretrievable. It could happen.

It might be an interesting show to watch.Legend Hunter
