The exciting blend of comedy and drama is getting a boost as Will Forte has joined the cast of the upcoming Netflix series, The Four Seasons. Forte, known for his work on SNL and Last Man on Earth, joins an ensemble that promises to deliver laughs and compelling moments.
A Star-Studded Cast
Tina Fey, who is also co-creator and executive producer, leads the cast alongside Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield. Fans will recognize these names from their collaboration on the hit NBC sitcom 30 Rock. The show’s origin traces back to the 1981 comedy film of the same name, directed by and starring Alan Alda.
The storyline revolves around three couples whose yearly tradition of seasonal vacations is upended when one couple splits. The playful yet poignant dynamics promise to both endear and amuse viewers.
Heavyweights in Comedy
Also joining the cast is fellow comedic heavyweight Steve Carell, known for his role as Gru in the Despicable Me franchise. Carell recently lent his voice to John Krasinski’s animated feature IF. The ensemble further includes Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo, Reno 911’s Kerri Kenney-Silver, and Erika Henningsen, celebrated for her role in Les Miserables: The Broadway Musical.
A Promising Collaboration
This new venture is produced by Fey’s Little Stranger production company, in collaboration with Universal Television. Executive production credits also go to David Miner, Eric Gurian, and Jeff Richmond. The series has received an eight-episode order and will start production later this year.
An Exciting Reimagining
The original plot from Alda’s film sees three married couples who regularly vacation together through each season. This steady tradition faces upheaval when one husband introduces a younger girlfriend into the mix. If the show sticks closely to this premise, it promises a hilarious exploration of social dynamics within group friendships.
