Gossip blogger, media personality, author, and podcaster Perez Hilton will be making a highly anticipated cameo appearance on General Hospital, the show announced on social media. GH shared a photo of Hilton on set with the teaser, Breaking News: A very inquisitive guest swung by Port Charles today. Perez Hilton, known for his online content and sometimes controversial takes, is no stranger to television. He graduated from the esteemed Tisch School of the Arts at New York University with a degree in theater. In 2016, he made his soap opera debut on The Bold and the Beautiful, portraying the man of the cloth who officiated the wedding of Quinn (Rena Sofer) and Eric (John McCook).
His TV credits extend beyond soap operas, including roles on The Sopranos, Dirt, Hot in Cleveland, and playing himself on episodes of Glee, Girl Meets World, Victorious, and 90210, among other series. He’s also appeared on numerous reality shows, such as Celebrity Big Brother, Worst Cooks In America: Celebrity Edition, Celebrity Rap Superstar, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List, and Paris Hilton’s My New BFF.
Perez Hilton is set for a cameo on General Hospital, announced the daytime television show. Fans were immediately turned off by the news when the soap opera teased the appearance on June 11.
GH has a history of welcoming real-life media personalities into the fictional world of Port Charles for guest gigs. Among others, Mario Lopez served as a co-host for the Nurses’ Ball event in 2017.
Perez Hilton’s upcoming involvement adds to this rich legacy of guest appearances. However, it’s worth noting that fan reactions have been mixed. One commenter remarked, No thank you. I won’t be watching.
Despite varied responses from fans, Hilton expressed his enthusiasm stating, I love all of the soap operas. I was on All My Children as an extra back in 2000, just after I graduated acting school at NYU.
