Here’s Why Disney Will Never Release a “National Treasure 3”

There are a few reasons why Disney won’t be releasing a National Treasure 3 anytime soon and they’re pretty obvious reasons that many people should be able to figure out. For one the stars of the films have been extremely busy and are constantly sidelined with other projects that they’ve been working on. More to the point, Nicolas Cage, the lead of the film, has been seen to do a lot of lesser films that have popped up on Netflix and aren’t all that talked about. His star power has been kind of on the wane for a while since he hasn’t really done anything of note for a couple of years at least. He’s still a great actor but his presence has been so saturated by minor films lately that it’s hard to see him being the star he was several years back.

Another problem with the star power rising however is that the cost to get them all back might be huge, meaning it could eat heavily into the overall budget and therefore affect the story and the kind of effects that could be brought into the mix. Without the proper effects a third movie would pale beside the first two and wouldn’t be likely to do too well at the box office. That being said the movies were considered to be successful but they weren’t so well known that they got worldwide recognition. It was more of a nod and an admission that they were fun to watch and were in some cases very accurate in their history despite the left turns they would take at times in order to keep the story moving forward. That also takes into account the idea that fact checking and making sure that everything that can be accurate actually is could be holding up production.

A big reason why things aren’t progressing on this film is the fact that it belongs to Disney and at this point in time Disney is extremely busy. In terms of where this film would be on the list it would be a long, LONG ways down since Disney is putting a lot into Star Wars, Marvel, and other projects that are taking precedence at this point. Plus with the purchase of 21st Century Fox, it still has to be said, their project list might not see an end for many years to come, and National Treasure doesn’t seem likely to make that list anytime soon. It’s not entirely hopeless really, except for the fact that there isn’t quite as much money to be had in these films as there is in the other big names that are being pushed right now. The actors from the National Treasure movies are well known and worth their weight, but they’re still no RDJ, Hemsworth, Evans, Pratt, and many others that are currently on the long roster of stars that Disney has in their stable.

Don’t look for it anytime soon is the main point, since at this juncture Disney seems confident in sticking with the cash cows they have on hand.
