Lisa Kudrow is honoring her late co-star and friend Matthew Perry by rewatching episodes of Friends. This heartfelt gesture comes after Perry’s passing on October 28, 2023, at age 54. Kudrow, who initially found watching her own performances embarrassing, has now embraced it as a way to celebrate Perry’s unique comedic talent.
Kudrow shared with The Hollywood Reporter, Honestly, I wasn’t able to watch it because it’s too embarrassing to watch yourself. But if I make it about Matthew, then that’s okay. And it’s just celebrating how hilarious he was — and that is what I want to remember [about him].
She also mentioned how much joy watching the show has brought her now, revealing that she’s been laughing out loud, finding her fellow cast members hilarious.
Reflecting on the ensemble’s chemistry, Kudrow remarked, I’m blown away by Courteney Cox, I’m blown away by Jen [Aniston]. Matthew, obviously, is just uniquely hilarious. No one ever knew that cadence or comedic rhythm before him. Matt LeBlanc is hilarious, and David Schwimmer, too.
She also humorously added how awkward it feels if someone catches her watching Friends.
The laughter and bonds formed during the production of Friends are memories Kudrow cherishes deeply. She shared fond moments about their days on set: You’re just laughing all day long, basically, in between the scenes because these are funny people. And especially someone like Matthew whose goal was: How many laughs can I get in real life every day?
Perry’s relaxed demeanor offscreen, captured in snapshots and remembered by his peers, speaks volumes about his light-hearted nature. While the investigation into his untimely death continues, fans and friends alike find solace in the joy he spread both onscreen and offscreen.
During the Friends reunion special, Kudrow once again captivated audiences with a performance of ‘Smelly Cat’, a nostalgic nod to her character Phoebe Buffay. 
This special moment showcased not only her role’s enduring charm but also how deeply intertwined these characters had become with their lives over the years.
Kudrow will next be seen leading a ragtag group of thieves through time in Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement’s adaptation of Terry Gilliam’s 1981 fantasy classic Time Bandits, premiering July 24 on Apple TV+ . She plays Penelope in this adventurous series.
As Kudrow continues to celebrate Perry’s legacy through her cherished memories and screen appearances, she hopes fans continue to remember him for his wit and kindness.
