Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are back together on set as Disney releases a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Freaky Friday 2, officially filming now. The beloved duo is reprising their roles as Anna and Tess Coleman.
Disney Confirms Release Date
While plot details remain under wraps, the studio has confirmed that Freaky Friday 2 will hit theaters in 2025. Despite earlier rumors suggesting a Disney+ release, the sequel will follow in the original film’s theatrical footsteps. The original grossed $160 million worldwide.
New Faces in the Ensemble
Julia Butters joins as a new cast member along with Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons. Returning favorites include Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao.
A Long-Awaited Return
Both Lohan and Curtis have teased plans for this long-awaited sequel throughout much of 2023. Jamie Lee Curtis expressed her enthusiasm by stating, WE ARE FREAKING OUT because the Coleman’s are getting FREAKY AGAIN!

The Return of Andrew Gunn
Andrew Gunn, who produced the original 2003 comedy favorite, returns. His production company, Gunn Films, was responsible for bringing to life other Disney projects like ‘Sky High.’
Nisha Ganatra Takes the Helm
Directing this much-anticipated sequel is Nisha Ganatra. She’s known for her work on Hulu’s Welcome to Chippendales and the films The High Note and Late Night. With her experienced hand guiding this production, audiences can expect a fresh take while retaining the charm of the original.
