There are only a few shows on television that I would put in the “We take it for granted” bracket. These are shows that are still hilarious or of extremely high quality but they’ve been on so long that we’re practically immune to them at this point. My picks for these shows are The Simpsons, Southpark, and Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I think that The Big Bang Theory is eventually going to land in this bucket as well but they’re not quite old enough. Simpsons and Southpark have over 20 years in so they’re easy but Always Sunny has got 12 seasons which is extremely tough to pull off in a comedy show (that’s not a cartoon).
Every comedy show gets stale after a while but Always Sunny has managed to keep it fresh despite us knowing the cast like we would our own families. Who knows how much longer the show can last but sometimes it’s nice to reminisce about the past. In the spirit of the past I decided to reflect back on a time where people actually had to audition for the parts they play. Hard to believe that this cast even auditioned at all, but here we have Kaitlin Olsen being “Sweet Dee” before there was even a Dee.
